While the battery collection competition diverts tons of batteries from the local landfill, it also helps to raise awareness among students and their friends and families about environmental issues and, in particular, about the proper disposal of hazardous waste. In North Bay, batteries and other hazardous waste should be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste Depot at 112 Patton Street.
