PRESS RELEASE
July 5, 2005
Organic Yard Contest Winner
Nipissing Environmental
Watch (NEW) is pleased to announce the winner of the Best-Looking
Organic Yard Contest. Sylvie Beaudoin and Wayne Sawchucks
landscape at 3795 Hwy 17E, Corbeil is the winning entry. The $300
prize will be presented on July 16. Attached you will find a photo of
their garden. There were ten gardens nominated, ranging from a single
foundation bed to park-like rural properties. All participants will
receive a certificate of appreciation.
NEW Treasurer, Peggy
Walsh Craig said, In only our second year the competition has
become fierce! We created a category for honourable
mention because so many of the gardens were outstanding.
North Bay homeowners who
may think the 2005 pesticide by-law cramps their style need only look
as far as the second-place winner, Mrs. Hiltz at 1469 Fraser Street
to see both an abundance of flowers and a top notch lawn. (See photo
named "organic yard runner up".) This fine gardener
receives a $30 gift certificate from Laportes Garden Centre.
Honorable mentions go to gardeners Mike Puccini, Monica MacLaren,
Katy Hunter, and Pat Bailey.
